Online Calls for Political Action in Oberlin Facebook Group
Title
Online Calls for Political Action in Oberlin Facebook Group
Subject
Oberlin amid COVID-19
Description
On the Oberlin Facebook Group that arose with the pandemic, "Oberlin-What do you have? What do you need? PLS READ THE "ABOUT" SECTION," there were a few politically-oriented posts. There are two samples included here.
The first is an ask of support from the Farm Labor Organising Committee (FLOC), as it worked to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of its vulnerable workers was maintained amid the pandemic. The ask for material support such as masks, technological access, and disinfectant supplies falls into mutual aid, but has been included in this section because the organisation is based in labor organisation and workers rights.
The second sample is the publicising of a ballot request form for absentee ballots in the upcoming elections, organised by community members to ensure that despite the stay-at-home order people are motivated to and have access to the opportunity to vote for their government representatives.
